The Lynx must be amongst one of the most beautiful of   medium sized cats.the lynx can be found mainly in the northern hemisphere four main speices exist eurasian lynx , canadian lynx ,and the iberian lynx, and the bobcat.the largest being the eurasian lynx its native to european and siberian forests.the canadian lynx inhabits north americia canada and extends into alaska, the iberian lynx is the species which is rare they inhabit the iberian peninsula and is an endangered species although conservation work is on going it was extremely endangered but has been changed to endangered dsc_0062_106

the last is the bobcat with many sub species it inhabits north america and canada as well.Lynx are usually solitary but do travel together sometimes not very often though.they have up to four kittens which gestation is about 70 days.they feed on  deer and small mammals being more usual _dsc8013-edit

A LONDON TRIP

_dsc5466

Just over a week a ago my wifes camera broke,so i took it into the menders in london a shop with a very good repair service .anyway time past about five days later got an email saying her camera was all fixed, o day earlier than they said which is usually six days ,so next day i headed of and decided to go up and collect it instead of having it posted back which nearly cost the same as the train fair! i caught the 9.30 train from tonbridge which takes about 40 minutes to get to charing cross in station  in  london. on arrival t took the underground from the embankment to vauxhall underground station changing at victoria.it was the a ten minute walk to the shop fixation uk in kennington lane ,i had a chat with the guys there and the left with judys fixed d600 ,so started back while on the underground i thought i better test out her camera so got of at st james park, which is right by and about half way through the lenght of the park, the weather was good few clouds but mainly sunny and st james park looked really great passing through the gates into the park i could have been right in the middle of the countryside hard to think i was actually in the centre of one of the worlds busiest cities _dsc5367

the colours of autumn were truely wonderful it seems especially colorful this year, maybe it just me but a time of year i didnt particulartly like when i was younger now becoming one of my most favorite times of year So i walked down to the lake and on and towards buckingham palace seeing_dsc5394 it from the bridge over the lake ,and st james palace in the other direction ( the first picture at the top shows this ) as i walked i noticed that there was loads of wildlife one more unexpected birds was the pelicans_dsc5431_dsc5419-edit

this was a most unexpected surprise ,taking a few pictures testing out judys camera all was apparent it was all working like new good job done by fixation ,but as they were so close it didnt matter that i only had 50mm lens! not really a wildlife lens but that didnt matter further along were these black swans _dsc5442

there red bills making them stick out as very different i could have photographed wildlife there all day but decided to push on to the palace as time was rather short, five minuets of good striding and i was there with the palace right before me_dsc5446  it really is an amazing building its grandure and size hit me first being much larger than i remembered,it had been so long the last time i was there ,i crossed the road and walked up to the outside and the gates  i then turned round and set of back towards st james palace which i knew would be quite a long walk but first had to take a photo of the gate entrance to green park_dsc5453

it seemed to sparkle in the midday sun the gold really shining that done i took the walk to the st james  palace which was about twenty minuets at good speed  arriving a bit short of breath i stopped for recovery_dsc5469

as i walked closer my mind drifted back to when i was 10 and my nan took me to see the queens birthday celebrations here which take place every year in june ,i went with nan in 1969 and remember the changing of the guard so decided to look and see if i could see any guards _dsc5471

passing through the square to the gates i realised i may be lucky as it was justa bout lunch time i then heard la loud shout so i hurried through the gates just in time to see the changing of the guards there red uniforms and highly polished helmets sparkling in the breaking through sun _dsc5475

one posed for a picture and another on horseback as well, after that excitement i looked at

my watch and headed for the underground m,to catch the train back home to tonbridge .Getting into the station at 3 .00 wasjust in time to do the half hour walk home get the car and pick judy up from work !

A Golden Glow

autum-bb-leaves

As autum closes and drifts in to winter here in britain ,i look back and realize what a spectral array of colours  nature throws up as trees leaves change from greens to oranges abd all shades of red and yellow ,a time of year i use to associate with the end of everything and the dark nights closing in have seemed to disappear ,does it make you reflect on times gone by or the year thats just flying by  the picture below i found the other week when looking for something else in one of my overcrowded cupboards img002

it was a picture taken at this time of year in 1957 two years before i came into the world poor world i say ! , how much water has gone under the bridge how many good memories or not so good, wishing things had turned out different,or gratefulness ,and remeberance ,its a time to reflect on times past but for me now its a time of the present dont miss the beauty of the present by spending too much time in the past ,its gone cant be changed cant be undone ,but can be forgiven !yes it can really no gid doent  want us to live with guilt and regrets lifes far too short isnt it shorter for some than others ,so now as i go out in whatever season i try too look for the beauty and the good and the wonderful and its there it is and am just grateful ,so as you buy your poppy i wear it with gratefulness for so much for lives of family loved ones sons and daughters who gave there all for us and an freedom and peace , thankyou Jesus  for all our lives  for whats gone and  for whats to come for the good and the help you give through the bad the dark times that youa re there right by our sides always_dsc2434_dsc3792_dsc2231_dsc3168

TRIP TO THE BRITISH WILDLIFE CENTRE

_dsc2873-edit

After looking at some pictures of a day out at the british wildlife centre a week or so ago realised it had been 5 years since that visit ,so decided to was well overdue for a return visit. The  british wildlife centre is situated in the county of surrey in southern england near a small place called newchapel on the a22 just north of east grinstead , that being the largest near town .We arrived at just after opening time which is 10 am on satudays and sundays and only opening on weekdays at certain school holidays and bank  holidays check on there website for prices and more details britishwildlifecentre.co.uk. There is a large car park which is free so after parking up we proceeded to the entrance where we bought our tickets and entered into a large area which houses restaurant and shop and a education area,we then went to see the red squirrels a they have talks about the animals throughout the day which are very informative and  eductaional ,as you go right inside the enclosure  is good for photo taking .the squirrels are a great favorite as they are a rare sight in the wild in the uk the grey almost totally taken over there habitat, but are on the isle of white and several other places in the uk._dsc2883

Next we moved on to catch up with the foxes as the talks follow each other so had enough time to get to where the fox enclosure is , they have several foxes ,and just have two new arrivals  from a rescue centre the on below is called flo,she is in beautiful shape as area  all the animals not sure how long flo has been there but was there the last time we came _dsc2893

_dsc2943

we watched flo and listened to the talk as i took a few pictures after that we went to the restaurant where they have a good variety on the menu .so after a refueling we went on to see the owls of which they have all the species that reside in britain  ,the tawny owl was nicely perched on good view so i managed a few pictures_dsc3334

i have underexposed the photos so as to give a nightime look to them as they are nocturnal birds,_dsc3328

We then went to see the badgers ,first looking in the underground set which is fantastic as you can see them and watch them as they sleep and move around underground_dsc3514-2

after watching the badgers we decided to call it a day and make our way to the exit but on the way we notice a little fox siting out in the sun his name is biscuit and is really sweet ._dsc3445

we really enjoyed our time there and can thoroughly recommend a visit to anyone its great for children and theres a good play area as well if they want a rest from the animals. We certainly wont leave it 5 years before our next trip !!
